Our Top 5 Cake Recipes

Its a big one this one and as you can understand has taken us some time to compile/fight it out amongst ourselves! With so many yummy cake recipes to choose from choosing your favourite five is a bit like trying to choose your favourite child – impossible.

Themes being theme, however, we have managed to scrape something together that we all agreed on for those looking to practice some of the best cake decoration and baking currently available.

Most, as you would imagine, are classics and are classics for good reason – because they are timeless in taste and aesthetics.

So, here goes…and in no particular order here are the best cake recipes of all time:):

1. Mile High Chocolate Cake.

With a name like that how could it NOT be included. For chocoholics everywhere we bring you the richest, most moreish choccy cake going. The only problem is you need kilos of it and have to melt it into a big bowl first…oh the hardships us cake decorators and bakers have to put up with!

2. Fresh Coconut Layer Cake

Vanilla cake layers brushed with a syrup made from coconut water and sugar . Can hardly be described as bad can it! If you’re  Bounty fan then you haven’t lived until you have tried this piece of heaven. It just melts in your mouth and takes you away to a faraway place….gorgeous.

3. Mixed Berry Chiffon Cake with Almond Cream Frosting

For those fruit bats amongst you we had to include a berry based offering and this little classic from our head of design here at Cake Decoration is the king of kings. Light and filled with fruity berries this is a summer classic with bells (and great big dollops of cream on)

4. Chocolate-Peanut Butter Cake with Cream Cheese and Butterfinger Frosting

Our final choice is a controversial one. After all, peanut butter abd butter fingers are not the most classic of cake recipe ingredients and neither are they top of most people’s lists when it comes to cake flavourings but ‘my word’ what a flavour explosions they create here. The frosting element is from another planet too – it really is that good.
